Travis Kalanick is an American entrepreneur, co-founder of Uber, and Chief Executive Officer of City Storage Systems (CSS), the parent company of CloudKitchens, Otter and Lab37 focused on building infrastructure for faster, better, cheaper food.

Prior to leading CSS, Travis co-founded Uber and served as the CEO from 2010 until June 2017, leading the company from its infancy to over $50B in GMV. During his tenure, Uber grew to become one of the world’s highest-valued private companies, operating in more than 70 countries and completing more than 5 billion rider trips.

Before co-founding Uber, Travis founded Red Swoosh, a peer-to-peer file sharing company that was acquired by Akamai Technologies in 2007. While in college, he co-founded Scour, a peer-to-peer search engine. He is a native of Los Angeles and learned to code in middle school before studying engineering at UCLA.
